And the nits
Aug. 21st, 2004 05:18 pmWe have rain! It's so wonderful. I'm counting on it to cool this house down. It has done a nice job on the outside...
The Seahawks fans are streaming in - the tailgate parties are kind of damp but it doesn't look like they mind. The game is still 2 hours off but the drum corps is at it hot and heavy. Kind of fun background noise.
I had not heard from my brother all day - no Mom news at all. Finally I sent a 'sooooo??????' note and got the report. She is good. He thinks that in a couple of weeks she'll be moving back into her apartment! She'll have to stay on oxygen and so far says she is not going out in public with an oxygen tube but we will see how long that lasts. But, over all, he sounds like things are really better than any of us thought.
I was really stressed about the Tivo thing. If my sister and her kids fuck that up, I have no way of getting it fixed again. They could easily 'fix' it so Mom won't be able to even watch that TV much less have Tivo on it. My brother said he would take care of it but sometimes he just spaces out on stuff that I think is critical. And, he is clueless about Tivo.
So tonight I sent him a reminder note and suggested that maybe he put a postit note on the TV itself directing them to watch one of the other sets.
I just got a note back saying that Dana put a note on the TV this morning and hid the remote! (Without the remote they will only be able to turn it on and watch one of the channels if they ignore the note.) This third wife (hence the nickname, Trey) is a keeper for sure.
And just now I got a note from Bill saying to call Mom - they can't make her phone with the phone card work to call me. So I called. She sounded GREAT! Alert and sharp and very alive. Wow. Seriously, I think she's got some wind left in her sails yet.
She says she'll probably go back to the apartment on Tuesday and won't need no stinkin' oxygen. Fortunately, the people there at 'the home' are in charge so I can just say - 'great!' And make sure that if she doesn't get to do what she wants she's ok with it and she is.
That phone call was a treat.
