Another whew day
Sep. 1st, 2004 04:09 pmToday was another heads down, one fire drill after another at work. This week is disappearing quickly.
Mom is ok... She still doesn't have cable on the TV (cable went out with the hurricane last week) in her room so she can't watch her tennis or anything else. She said this morning that she was gathering a posse of people to worry about it. The night nurse is appalled and said he would get the problem fixed - she said. And she said that the Physician Assistant had changed some of her medication so that her hand tremor was a little better. She said that the Physician Assistant was wonderful.
When I got into the office this morning, I called the social worker and left a voice mail begging her to get the cable fixed. Then I called her regular doctor's office and talked to Sharon, whom I had met before and who loves Mom to bits. Sharon said that she grew up with Mom's new Physician Assistant and Mom was in great hands. She also confirmed that as long as Mom was in the nursing unit, her regular doctor had to turn over her care to the doctor at 'the home'. This is fine. I just wanted to get it nailed down so that Polly and Nancy and everyone else gives up on involving him. The administration of this whole thing is getting far more complicated than the medical care itself. But, I think I now have it put back together and much more simple now.
I got an email tonight from the social worker who wasn't exactly clear but it sounds like the cable is fixed or will be very soon.
We had torrential rain this morning. It was wild. Then at work - in Redmond, 30 minutes away - it was dry most of the day. Just before I left, the bottom fell out and the streets were giant puddles. As I walked out the door, the sun came out and the rain stopped. I was half way to the bus when the thunder started. It was big thunder. Very very strange here in this area. I can count on one hand the number of times I've heard thunder since I moved to Seattle 12 years ago. In downtown Seattle it was bone dry when I got home. I was raised in the southeast. I don't think I'll ever get used to these micro climates - a different weather for every neighborhood!
Love to stay and chat but I really need to go read my friends' entries for the day. I feel like I've been in isolation!
