Retail Therapy

susandennisThere is nothing that quite lifts my spirits as much as a giant 2-story Target store. Really. I'd like to be a better person than that but I'm not and there you have it.
I strolled around Target and loved it. I bought a purse with a light in it. It's just like the one Karen, my officemate has. I actually wanted the red one but hers is red and I thought that was over the line so I got a nice, blue one. And a new wallet. And a new, very light, long rain jacket with a hood. And some knit men's pajama pants (the women's never have pockets) for wearing on weekends and a couple of tops that were on sale and a suction hook for the shower for my washcloth (which I installed and has already fallen down). I looked at everything and there were a fair number of things that I didn't buy. But, it was lovely. And it was early so it was basically me and the stuff. Nice.
Then I bought gas. Then I found a grocery store. We have 3 major grocery store chains here and QFC is my least favorite. But, it was there and all I really needed was eggs and milk so what the heck. While I was wandering around QFC, I happened on the soft drinks and, as I always do, checked to see if they had 2 liter Diet Dr. Pepper. Like most stores around here, they were out. But, there was a soft drink guy there taking inventory so I asked 'why is it that grocery stores in the Seattle area never have any Diet Dr. Pepper in 2 liter bottles?' He said it was the most popular and they couldn't keep it in stock. I said they should try harder and he said they should, too. He said that he thought he saw a case in the back and did I want it? Sure!
So I got some other stuff and went to the checkout where the line was longer than a Santa line at Christmas. I fired up my Treo and played Hearts while I waited. Finally, just before it was my turn a checker opened up another stand and beckoned me. I joked 'I was beginning to worry that you guys were going to charge me rent!' We laughed. She asked if I had my QFC card. I do not because I resent carrying around cards and said so. She said 'I can just give you one of these little ones and you can toss it when you leave if you want... ' So she did! I did not have to fill out anything and she handed me this teensy card and saved me $10!! I'm feeling a little better about QFC - at least that one.
On to the notions store for shoe decoration... Scored there, too... I took the strap off my Crocs because it's useless and it was ugly and just unbuttons off. And I used the side buttons to attach more funner decorations... See? Isn't that better?
