Climbing back down
Oct. 12th, 2004 01:23 pmI'm better now. (And I'm seriously amazed at how all of your being angry on my behalf really helped!). As
henare noted, it is a fine festuche. There is cable access in the newer wings building but no wireless and no where where I could set up wireless for her. But, having said that, please know that checking to make sure is on the top of my list for Thanksgiving. Oh and no satellite option either. Actually, DSL might be a more likely more sooner option as they are moving to BellSouth here in a month or so.
But, I'm moving on and there is good news.
They moved Mom today from her nursing home room to her new assisted living room and she is truly delighted. Happily, it turns out that I have been pretty successful in shielding her from most of the ugly. When I finally tracked her down today, she was in her new room and she could not quit telling me how really really nice it is. She's tickled.
AND, she's finally able to go to a dining room - a different one than before - for her meals. Since August, she's had most every single meal by herself on a tray in her room and the food was standard tray in your room institutional food.
Today she went into her new dining room for lunch and had a hot dog. She told me about it three times. And said it was wonderful. "I've been wanting a hot dog for the longest time and it was just heaven!"
We talked about the computer and she does remember that it was harder before cable access but it was doable. And it will be again. Oh and a few years ago when Comcast changed her email address again, I bought her a domain name so at least whichever way we go now and later, she can keep the same email address. Whew.
Her TiVo is working but is not calling out. I suspect because it is probably not hooked up to the telephone line but the last call was last Friday and I can walk my sister-in-law through hooking it up to the phone line when she gets there on Thursday. For now, Mom can watch the ballgames and the news and can pause live TV and is happy.
So things are ok for now. Thanks, guys.
