All last week, I got up and left the house 30 minutes earlier than usual because I was working overtime hours. This means that I was listening to NPR radio from 5 a.m. until about 5:20. Turns out that all week long they were doing one of those very offensive, intrusive and really annoying pledge drives and I didn't even know it! They don't start begging, apparently, until 6 a.m. It has hosed my Satuarday listening but I can donate one day, I guess.

I've substituted a TIVO'd episode of Solid Gold Oldies from one of the Music Choice channels. Bobby Goldsboro is singing about Honey. This channel plays stuff from mainly the late 50's and the 60's - my teens. It's music that kept us glued to our little transister AM radios.

I talked to Mom today and I think we're turning a corner - a good corner. She's doing more and more stuff on her own and asking better questions. Today's topic is the TV. When they first installed her Comcast TV cable, her TV worked fine. The TIVO isn't calling out but the picture was good and she had full TIVO function. She still does have full TIVO function but her pictures crap - shadows, doubles, etc. It's hard for her to separate in her mind what's TIVO and what's regular TV (heck, it's hard for a lot of people to do that!) But she was asking all the right questions about how to talk to the Comcast people when they come. She has them coming on Monday afternoon. But she thinks if she calls today she can get them out there today. I told her to have them them call me if there was an issue.

And they installed her second telephone line yesterday so Mom figured that meant her computer was ready so she turned it out and typed out a couple of emails but 'I don't think it worked'... Yeah, probably didn't. The telephone modem is coming from Amazon next week and then someone has to hook it up. But, by dern, she was on the right track!

I tried hooking up TIVO to my new wireless network but we got no lift off. TIVO is not happy about the Netgear USB adapter I have. I did a little research and discovered that several others have had difficulty with this particular adapter. It came free with the router so I can't really complain. Not a biggie since I have to have the phone cord over there anyway for the other TIVO. Guess we'll just wait until my new Lifebook arrives to really test the wireless part of the wireless network.

I'm thinking about running a couple of little erands. Nothing critical which is good because I have not been back in the car since the whole battery dead/charge/dead again/charge episode of a few weeks ago. I'm not sure it will even start. But, I figure it's best to find out when my using the car isn't critical.

I don't feel like walking the neighborhood this morning. No particular reason but I don't have to so I don't think I will. Maybe if the car works and I go out, I'll go walk around somewhere else later.

But, someone sometime today is going to have to do some vacuming around here.
