And the weekend is here!
Oct. 22nd, 2004 04:41 pmI'm on the bus, on the way home. Another good work day. I got all of the pages and parts and bits and pieces of my website done that I could. There's more to do but I have to wait for the site owner to fork over the goods. As long as he's the hold up, he can't very well bitch if we miss his deadline. So, I'm happy.
The only thing I couldn't figure out was how to change the style for color of visited links. My only option is inline since I cannot get to the head tag or the style sheet. Google and I spent a good hour trying to find the answer and came up short.

Have I mentioned that Mom told my brother, for Halloween has decided to go as a Little Old Lady? She's working on her costume. He thinks she can carry it off.

Somehow this morning we got on the topic of dying and she reminded me that the obituary that Daddy wrote for her is in the fire safe. Since she'll be dead, I'm not too stressed about her obituary. She totally forgets that the newspaper quit doing obits of regular people years ago. You need to be famous and then it's a newshole issue. (If you are only moderately famous and it is a slow news day, you have a shot.) When Daddy died, she sent them the obituary he had written for himself. They called and very nicely explained their policy and offered to run it as a paid death notice and she said NFW.
So now, she brings up the obit thing every once in a while. I tell her that she needs to edit it and mention how wonderful I am and she ignores me.

Today I dodged a big Mom bullet. I have been dreading what was going to happen when she focused on the fact that she no longer had a spare bedroom for me to sleep in. I made reservations in a motel fairly nearby a while back and I knew she would not be happy about that and would fret about not having a place for me to stay.
This morning was the day. It was the first thing she said. I told her that I had made reservations at the Hampton Court right next to a restaurant she loves. She totally surprised me. In a voice filled with admiration she said "You did? You think of everything!" And that was that. No more worries.

I am ready for the World Series. I thought I didn't care who won the National League but after watching last night's game and hearing what has become The Annual Lament Postulating On Whether Or Not This Was Roger Cemmens' Last Pitch. I am sick to death of it and I sure am relieved that it will not be the Roger Clemmens series.

I'm thinking that getting pissed off that there is no free wireless access on the bus is just a little elitist...
