When old ladies do bad things...
Oct. 25th, 2004 04:24 pmWhen Mom finally goes to that chuckle box in the sky, this journal is going to be left with no content!
Today, she calls me at work on my office phone. This is huge because she can never remember the number or where she put it or that I even have an office phone or that there is a 3 hour time difference. But, today she pulled it all together.
"When does my credit card expire?"
"August of 05."
"Well, I was close..."
Through a series of snafus which I only found about about 2 weeks ago, she's been operating with an expired Visa card. Bank of America sent her a new one which the trust lady has it and plans to take out to her but hasn't gotten there yet. So Mom is now just making shit up.
Today she bought a walker and committed credit card fraud. And, I'm guessing that she might be in a league of her own on that one.
I called Bank of America again. When she makes up the expiration date, they lock her account down. Fortunately, my name is on the account so if I can answer 87 questions about her and me and the trust department at the bank, and give a DNA sample, they will talk to me about her account. I got a really nice guy in the fraud department who confirmed that her latest purchase locked the account. I explained. He listened carefully, assured me we could fix and asked to review the recent charges so we did.
Since her last bill she has bought:
The services of California Closets
One modem from Amazon.Com
A month of ISPWest services
A walker
The fraud guy said "you really have your hands full with her, don't you?"
She won't have to do any time... this time....
