Today's bits
Nov. 3rd, 2004 01:23 pmYes, I am bummed. It's a depressing day. But, honestly, I'm jaded. I did not get to vote until was 21 years old and since every four years - with the exception of 1992 - I have woken up on the first Wednesday of November feeling fucked over and not in a nice way. (Of course, in 2000, the feeling lasted longer...)
So it's back to my life as an ostrich.
On a happier note, I now have a close personal friend at Bell South. I called about DSL for Mom and this very cheery woman who's name I did not get, patiently answered all of my questions. She really was a good sport. I refused to sign up on the spot because I wanted to think about it and to talk to my brother and get another day's reading from Mom. So I told Cheery Lady that I wanted to wait she asked me when would be a good time for her to call me back. I liked her spunk and told her next Monday.
Unless I'm just way off the meter here, I think it's going to be fine. I sign her up, she sends a modem and software, my brother sends one of the 100 ethernet cards he has stacked up ready for the dumpster at the office, I slap it all together and boom we're a deal.
I sure hope.
If it works out like my brother, Cheery Lady and I all believe it will, Mom will be back in her comfortable always-on-line saddle at about 2/3rds the price of what she was paying Comcast.
