Back in the saddle again
Nov. 29th, 2004 01:51 pmI am back at my desk and so grateful to be here. I really do like my job. I bitch and moan about it but it's so good to have a place to come where I can learn new stuff and do good stuff and feel competent and not have to repeat everything I say 12 times.
I'm trying to wean Mom off the phone calls and I think I'm making progress. I did not call her yesterday - email only. And I did not call her this morning - email. I did call her just now (4 p.m. her time) because I needed to make sure she digested the info. She did say she missed me in a way that let me know my week of pain was appreciated.
For some reason it did not dawn on me until Saturday that we had no bothered to cancel her renter's insurance policy. So I got on that today. The reason I called her was to tell her that she was signing a letter I was faxing to the insurance company to cancel the policy and get a refund. She 'got it' immediately and said 'well, when you are forging, don't forget an 82 year old's hand shakes when she signs anything!'
My main challenge today is to remember that I drove the car to work. I just know that come 2:45, I'm going to trot on out to the bus. It would not be fatal but I'd really rather get the car back in its own garage tonight.
Back to work...
