This is the strangest weather. For the past two mornings, it has been not cold at all in the mornings. When I walk to the bus and then from the bus to the office, it's nearly been too warm to be wearing a coat. Rainy a little but really warm. Then, in the afternoons, when it's time to do the reverse trot, it's cold! Windy and cold. Well, not that cold but I wish I had gloves and a hat and maybe a scarf!

For the past 12 years I have had the same insurance agency. And every single year they send me a little desk calendar. It used to the the cardboard cutout kind that you folded into a triangle. Then for a couple of years they had these great smaller ones that you could stick onto stuff (like your monitor). Last year they were back to the triangle kind but not the old good kind that had stiff cardboard. This one has a spiral ring at the top that got mashed in the mail so every month what should be flip is kind of a shove.

But, so far, no calendar this year. None. I'm staring here at December and I'm getting a little worried. What if they don't send one? Then, if I need to call them, which I actually have done about 4 times in 12 years, I'd have to dig through my files for the phone number. If they send me a calendar it's right here in front of me.

I am such a dork.

One of the people from the trust that pays Mom's bills called today to say that they had a physician consent form from IDS and what should they do with it.

This could be Very Good News. Mom has two IDS Long Term Care policies. They have been a pain in the ass for a long time. They are with American Express and the account manager stalked Mom after Daddy died, trying to get investment $$ out of her. It took me a solid year of phone calls and letters and phone calls and letters to get that asshole off her account. So when she moved into assisted living, I thought, what the heck, let's file a claim and see who salutes. The worst they can do is say no.

So I called for the claim forms and got them and then got the people at 'the home' to fill them out and get Mom to sign and send them in. At one point I got a letter from IDS saying that since they hadn't heard anything, they were going to close the claim. I spent a day tracking down the forms, getting 'the home' to swear they would get them in that day and then convincing IDS to cool their jets a while.

Still, I figured they'd blow us off in a heartbeat. But, now they want a physician's consent... maybe?? Maybe?? It would sure be nice to squeeze a dime out of these dudes.

I got Jon Stewart's book from the library. I really am getting tired of him and thought that I'd just thumb through his book and turn it back in. But, it is really pretty clever and good and fun to read. Maybe I'm not as over him as I thought I was.

Turns out my dry, itchy scalp of last week was due to Pantene's new Full & Thick Shampoo and Conditioner. I switched to my regular Swave cheapo stuff and in two shampoo's my head is healed. My hair did not get 33% Full & Thick like they promised anyway. Those lying sacks of shit.

My stocks are really doing nicely lately. Krispy Kreme had a great day today and that always makes me smile. Costco was smiling, too. In fact, the only one of my 10 stocks that did NOT make money today is the one I dumped - Sirius - I kept a few shares but sold the rest for more than the shares were worth at close of market today. I am feeling feeling financially smug today.
