Warm mornings/cold afternoons
Dec. 14th, 2004 04:22 pmThis is the strangest weather. For the past two mornings, it has been not cold at all in the mornings. When I walk to the bus and then from the bus to the office, it's nearly been too warm to be wearing a coat. Rainy a little but really warm. Then, in the afternoons, when it's time to do the reverse trot, it's cold! Windy and cold. Well, not that cold but I wish I had gloves and a hat and maybe a scarf!
But, so far, no calendar this year. None. I'm staring here at December and I'm getting a little worried. What if they don't send one? Then, if I need to call them, which I actually have done about 4 times in 12 years, I'd have to dig through my files for the phone number. If they send me a calendar it's right here in front of me.
I am such a dork.
This could be Very Good News. Mom has two IDS Long Term Care policies. They have been a pain in the ass for a long time. They are with American Express and the account manager stalked Mom after Daddy died, trying to get investment $$ out of her. It took me a solid year of phone calls and letters and phone calls and letters to get that asshole off her account. So when she moved into assisted living, I thought, what the heck, let's file a claim and see who salutes. The worst they can do is say no.
So I called for the claim forms and got them and then got the people at 'the home' to fill them out and get Mom to sign and send them in. At one point I got a letter from IDS saying that since they hadn't heard anything, they were going to close the claim. I spent a day tracking down the forms, getting 'the home' to swear they would get them in that day and then convincing IDS to cool their jets a while.
Still, I figured they'd blow us off in a heartbeat. But, now they want a physician's consent... maybe?? Maybe?? It would sure be nice to squeeze a dime out of these dudes.
