susandennisMy brother finished his part of Mom's computer rebuild and he and his wife headed home to Jacksonville. Then it was my turn. I had to fix her window sizing, turn off the screensaver and the energy thingies, put her email notification sound back in, put her links back on her browser, set up her antivirus so it wouldn't ask her needless questions...
And put her Smiley's back. Smiley Central is spyware, I am sure. But, you know what? She loves it to bits. It tickles her to put smiley faces and little annimations in her email and Smiley Central makes it the easiest. There are packages that you can buy and I could gather up a bunch of images for her but none of that would match Smiley Central's ease of use and wide variety. So what if someone spies on her. She's perfect for their white widow over 80 demographic.
Plus now that she has XP, we can roll back if we have to and all kinds of cool tricks. Well worth it all.
Anyway, for more than an hour I sat here and fiddled with her stuff - it's slow going over 3,000 miles. But, I got it all done and sent her an email and got one back saying she had lots of fun watching me work! She was sitting there watching me - probably the whole time. She never watches while I'm there - 'I don't want to make you nervous'. But, today she was the spyware. That gave me my own Smiley.
I've cleaned up the kitchen, done all the laundry and now I think I'll take this ample ass and put it in it's rightful place on the sofa. I need to do a little TIVOing...
