Starting off with the excellent news that Netflix is sending me the final three DVDs from Sex and the City. I am sure I am the last person in the world to actually find out what happens in the end. After this weekend, I'll be up to speed.

I got my new Treo yesterday - or, rather, my replacement. Getting it successfully activated was a bit of a pain. "Due to high volume of the holidays..." Sad, isn't it, when a giant corporation treats "The Holidays" as if it were a total surprise and that's their excuse for not being prepared?

But, I now have a fully functional and not nearly as banged up Treo. All is good.

Well, actually, I do have injuries. Walking home from the Sprint store yesterday I did a little sidewalk surfing - tripped over thin air. I have one not-very-badly skinned knee. I did not tear my pants for which I was very grateful because they were my favorite red corduroys. But, somehow I managed to scrape all of the skin off the back of my right hand. Instead of catching myself on my palm, my wrist flipped and the back of my hand skidded along the concrete.

I was still about 4 blocks from home so I limped towards there and after about 2 blocks my hand started to really bleed. I finally stopped and propped my backpack up on a trash can to find a tissue or something to prevent me from dripping blood all the way home. I am not ambidextrous and I was having a heck of a time trying to get into all the various backpack compartments.

Finally this really really nice homeless guy rushed over from the corner with a napkin. "I didn't get it at first - I thought your hand was a tattoo! I'm so sorry. What happened? Will this help?" Oh man, yeah! Whew. I explained that I had fallen and he was stricken "I didn't even see that! I'm so sorry!" I explained it was several blocks ago and I was really all right just trying not to make a mess. He was really very sweet and quite the savior. I made it home without staining anything.

I spent the evening and some of the night really sore and hurting. Finally at 1 a.m. I got up and found some Ibuprofin and whew. No more hurt. Isn't that the stuff that causes heart attacks? Worth the risk, I say.

Today both knees and one shin have beautiful bruises and my hand is still sore and really ugly.

I need to go back to that corner tonight. The napkin guy was selling his Real Change issues - the least I can do is buy him out for the week! And I want to thank him properly.

There are even fewer people at work today than yesterday! But I have a nice fat pile of stuff to do and no huge looming deadlines and no one around to bug me. Perfect. I think I'll get back to it.
