Got my computing groove back...
Jan. 2nd, 2005 10:40 amOvernight I must have been visited by the Byte Bunnies because this morning, everything is healing. Buzznet got fixed about an hour ago. I removed some crap from my computer and now it reboots just like it is supposed to. Ahhhhh
The one, remaining, computer problem I have yet to solve is Mom's Encarta. Encarta is one of those irritating programs that requires the CD be in the drive in order to operate it. My Mom loves Encarta. It's why she got a computer in the first place. She will sometimes just open it up and skulk around looking for whatever. But she also uses it to look up stuff. She hadn't done that in a couple of weeks until this morning and when she clicked on the icon it asked for the CD.
My tidy brother did not know to leave the CD in the drive. He put it with the other software that we only need for installation in a small basket on a high shelf in the closet. She can't even come close to reaching it. I can't get there from here. The staff who would normally do all reaching is pretty sparse around there today. So she was stuck. I got a note saying 'no problem. I'll get someone to reach it tomorrow and look it up then.'
This was followed 30 minutes later by: 'Google knew the answer and requires no reaching!!'
Ahhhhh
I have been to the grocery. I needed eggs and the football people are here today so I needed to get over there early and get back before the crowds.
Although I did notice one group had their tailgate tent all set up and their barbecue going at 7:30 this morning - before it was daylight. I think I was inaccurate when I noted that last week's game was the final one. Duh.
And finally. I've been meaning to get a picture of this ever since it went up. Condo people generally have no sense of humor (a lot of them have no sense but that's a different entry). The people in this building waste are no different usually but obviously someone from the other side has infiltrated. A group decorates the lobby every year - tree, wreath, poinsettia's etc. etc. This year, however, there was an addition. It has cracked me up every day.
