Horizontal Bi-Polar?
Nov. 14th, 2003 09:48 amThose of you who have animals know that they are the masters of ritual. They will sleep on the same side of the bed every night. Hound you for meals if not served on the schedule they are locked into. Snuggle pretty much the same way whenever you sit in that one spot. Etc. Etc.
My Jake is like that. He's nearly 15 years old and he's set in his ways. When Betty arrived on the scene, he got a little jolt but he quickly amended his ways and now he's set in those.
But, Betty? She is a non-conformist all the way. Not set at all. Or she has not found ways she considers worth setting yet. And she's at least 2. But, about half the time she wakes me up in the morning - claws out and ready to eat. The other half of the time she's no where to be found until the bowls are full. At night she's taken to staking out this one spot on the bed and not moving until the lights are out. Then half the time she leaves and half the time she settles in.
She has very sharp claws and loves to knead... me. If my cold dead body ends up in the medical examiners office while they search for cause of death, cat clawing will likely be top on their list. My body is covered with Betty's love. She hates to have a claws trimmed and she has very furry feet so it's hard to do a quick job.
This morning, however, she took one of those needles and pretended it was an IV. That was it. I grabbed her and got out the nippers and trimmed up all 10 front claws. And she didn't mind one single bit. No wiggling. No whining and no running away after.
I don't get it. I need a Betty manual.
