A new day

I slept like the proverbial rock last night. I mean I was dead. I think going out on a school night coupled with IRS stress just did me in. But, today is a new day. And, I'm on the case.

[livejournal.com profile] rivendweller kept telling me to get a CPA to do my taxes and I kept whining back "but I don't know any..." Well, the love note from the IRS said, in effect, "you asshole, this is to let you know that you should listen to [livejournal.com profile] rivendweller!"

So, last night I did my research. I found several small firms that appear to be just what I need. I have a top contender and they will get a call first thing Monday morning. They will get to do my 2004 return and, if I can't get the IRS request for 2003 noodled, they may get to help with that, too.

Then this morning, I went through all my details for 2004 and exported the year in several different forms (txf and two different csv's) from Money. And organized the paper bits. And I put it all into a nice yellow folder with my business cards. I'm ready.

Then, I got the fax ready for my finance guy to get the cost basis info for the securities that I need for the 2003 return.

It feels much better to have a plan and be ready for that plan.

Plus, this morning I got my walk in. Turns out it had been nearly a month! (I can tell by the dateline on the last pics.) The first change is the time. I start out, especially in the winter, as soon as it is daylight. This is generally 8ish or later in the winter but this morning I was on the street just before 7. A lot of the little things change in a month's time. One of the vegetable stalls in the Pike Place market moved. And the Brazilian Grill restaurant that has had a Opening Soon sign on it for what must be a year and a half, finally opened!

I am home now and feeling good and productive and on top of things.

Oh and Mom is better. She's now going to the dining room again for meals rather than having them delivered - this is a key indicator of how she feels. When she starts bitching about her fellow diners, I know she's in good shape!

I think I'll do some tidying up around here...

[livejournal.com profile] drolma often talks about taking a picture and being surprised when she actually saw it. I did that today. My naked eye saw the picture below as not at all hazy - I was a little afraid the sun might have been too bright. The rest of the pictures are on Buzz
