I have two domain names (and web stuff) hosted on Total Choice Hosting. They are big and cheap and very easy to deal with. I've used them now for several years happily. Today I discovered that the domain that I use to host a lot of my LJ pictures is down. Ugh.
I tried to get to the control panel. Nothing. I tried a couple of other things. Nothing. My other account/domain is working fine. I went to their website and saw that they are doing maintenance. But their maintenance is done. hmmmm I know the server number of this account and searched on it. Nothing. So I go to fill out a help ticket.
I get to the end and hit submit. And just as I did that, I see I have a new Gmail... I pop over there and there is a note from Total Choice Hosting notifying me that my particular server is having a problem and they are on it. I popped back to their help desk to cancel my ticket and realize they have an interim screen before 'really I want to submit' so I could back out.
But the very strangest thing is that I don't ever remember getting an email from them about a problem before. I don't even remember signing up for 'alerts'. I'm certainly delighted to have the info in such a timely fashion but it's still kind of creepy.
