All ports/No Storm
Feb. 22nd, 2005 08:34 amSo, this morning Mom sends an email that her hour glass is stuck. And that's how I discovered that in addition to not having port 110, port 25, port 26, I'm also blocked from any VNC action. I called helpdesk. The first guy suggested that I roll back to Friday when everything worked. (I hate when I forget the obvious...). I rolled back and it didn't help and he didn't have any more ideas so I said, ok. And then MSN Messenger wouldn't log on. And I couldn't get to some websites. And the website I'm in charge of was showing a broken image that I know is not broken...
I called back. This time another guy took about 2 seconds to figure out I had a very old version of the firewall and it was corrupted. He helped me get rid of it (which turned out to be non-trivial) and install a new one. New one in and whamo bamo I've got ports open all over the place!!! Whew.
And Mom is unstuck.
And if that isn't enough to bring out the happy dance dragon...
Sheri is coming on Thursday for more design stuff!!!! She has BIG carpet samples and BIG paint chips and lots of stuff for us to talk about. Woo hooo!!
