Mom needs a man

susandennisMom is feeling much better these days. She's still about as confused as ever but her back doesn't hurt so she's getting frisky.
She sent me an email last night bragging about how she can now get to the dining room and back without her walker! She has to carry her oxygen but as long as that is all she has to carry, she's good to go sans extra wheels.
But, last night (at 1:42 CST to be precise) her DSL connection bit the dust. She called to let me know this morning. She said she rebooted a bunch and no go. I called BellSouth and they have no outage. I had to explain several times that I was 3,000 miles away from the computer so, no... I cannot tell you which lights on the modem are lit.
I hunted around and found http://www.geeksoncall.com and they serve Charleston and I called 'em. Ron is scheduled to go out there tomorrow morning at 9:30 a.m. to get her fixed. The guy I talked to was VERY nice and pretty darned sharp. I hope Ron is. If he's slow it's going to be pricey but if he gets her back up, I really don't care.
I left her a voice mail (she was at lunch) asking if it was ok that he was coming. She just called me back to say that it was fine. Actually when she called the first thing she said was 'what's a firewall?' Old Ron could be in for a treat.
She said they were talking at lunch about the new units they are building there at 'the home'. They new units will be two room apartments. She's got first dibs if she wants one. So she's really trying to figure it all out. The hard details are not easy to come by.
Plus she's getting an earful from the grapevine. At lunch today she learned (from people who know as little or less than she does) that the new units will have washer/dryers in them. She said she was going to ask if she paid extra could she get one without. "I sure as hell don't want to have to start doing laundry again!"
And they say she can save money on one of the new units if there are two people living there.
"So I need to find a man. And I want one that drives at night."
She's got til September to nail this detail down. She said that now that she can walk on her own, she may start trolling the halls looking for candidates.
