Rock on, dude... kinda
Mar. 18th, 2005 07:18 amHere's the blurb about it:
I loved hearing the music. Those were my people. That's what I heard when it dawned on me that I was really going to be an adult in this world and on my own and carving my own way. That's what I heard when we did not trust anyone over 30. Those are the sounds that surrounded me day and night all those years ago. The sounds are young and vibrant.Description
Procol Harum with "A Whiter Shade Of Pale", The Moody Blues singing "Nights In White Satin", John Fogerty and Credence Clearwater Revival,do these names sound familiar? Just like Janis Joplin and Jimi Hendrix, they are all part of "the 60's experience", and for the first time ever, classic full-length clips never-before-broadcast of these icons, and new live performances from 60's seminal artists, Roger McGwinn of the Byrds, Chuck Negron, John Kay and Steppenwolf, Felix Cavalierie of The Rascals, Eric Burden of The Animals and more will gather for a special "rock-u-concert" to attract the boomers this March. It's the latest "My Music" special from TJL, called "My Generation - The 60's Experience" and the program promises to take us back with songs and of peace, love, and protest - the defining anthems of a generation.
The people making those sounds on the TV in this show are just old. I mean really old. It is really disconcerting to hear the young sounds out of those old, fat, out of shape, sad-looking people. And as I sat there and watched and had those thoughts I was ever so glad not to be anywhere near a mirror because, of course, except on the outside, I am young and thin, and limber with good teeth and good hair and I totally rock. Wait, do you suppose that's how the people on that show feel, too?
Hmmmm
