The loan and other thrills
Apr. 20th, 2005 02:36 pmI got an email today that my home equity loan had been approved. Problem is, they left a zero off of the left side of the decimal point! I got on the phone and called the woman who sent the email and explained that I was sure it was my fault but I needed that 0. I thought for sure this was going to nix the deal. But, she was quite cheery and said she'd have to go back and check. I asked how long it would take (figuring another couple of days) and she said 'oh a couple of hours max.'
I hung up, and went to get something to drink and the phone rang and it was her and I had my extra 0 at 4.74% for 60 months. $25 annual fee and that's it. No other charges of any kind. Frighteningly easy. In about a week and a half she is going to call me and tell me that the next day I have to go in and sign papers. This means driving to work since the branch is very close to here at work. Then 3 days later, the $$ is in my account. Wow.
This really is better than cashing in on my investments in this market. My Ameritrade stocks are sinking so fast, I'm not sure life support would help. And the interest on this loan is tax deductible. Nice.
My sister arrived at Mom's for a visit today. Whenever she wants to go to the east coast to do anything - visit friends, go to a wedding, whatever, she calls it a mother visit so Mom will pay her airfare and she can use Mom's car for free. I don't know what the occasion this time is but Mom says she's leaving tomorrow to go to whatever it is and will be back on Friday and then fly home on Sunday.
I do not want to live long but I would like to outlive my Mother so that, as executor of her will, I can fuck my sister over in many silly little ways. I really am looking forward to that.
Now it's nearly time for me to find that bus and get home to see what the yellow walls look like in the bedroom!!!
