My little nothing cold was not happy at being dissed apparently and has stuck with vengeance. I had a hard time sleeping last night and today it's still here and I'm not that happy about it. Oh well.

I went over to Polly's this morning. She's the one who has a business helping out old people. She asked if I'd help her with computer stuff. She's has Dell out and the cable company and lordknowswhoallelse and was really pretty set up but just off enough pixels to confuse her.

Comcast had removed the cable modem and left the black box that powers it and she couldn't figure out where to plug that in. (Storage closet). Her phone modem was all set up and working fine with her AOL and her connection was pretty darned zippy.

Her VCR is gloppy and she needs a new one but a few minutes with the fax/copier/printer and we were faxing, copying and printing up a storm.

She has three adorable little dogs.

Then we talked about Mom. Her mother lived where Mom does before she got sick, moved into the nursing wing, and finally died. She pointed out and very correctly I think that Mom is probably pretty angry and does not know what to do about it.

Mom has never been one to express real anger and her passive agressive treatment of me this week is a new phase for her. It was good to talk to Polly about it all. I left there vowing to just zip my lips and hang on until Friday morning. Oh and Polly asked if she could take me to the airport in return for the computer work. Absolutely!

I've been checking work email periodically and that has been fun. There have been some fairly good sized dramas going on. It is so good not to be there. So far, I have forwarded emails to my manager - just FYI and she's reigned in the perpetrators pretty successfully. It's enabling me to enjoy the time away.

Mom's napping... I'm going to read my book.

Are you sure you can't help your mother with her anger at all, by maybe listening to her about it?

She doesn't know she's angry. Well, she probably knows she's mad at me but not why.

You are going out for Thanksgiving dinner, yes? Then to that bar at your mom's for drinkies after? Have a high-ball in my honor. I bet he knows how to make one.

Hee! I am a sucker for punishment, too. I just checked work email. All seems quiet on the western front. And Friday it will be a ghost town and I can get things done, go for a walk and sing and dance away all alone in the labs.

Ha... and yes, out tomorrow is the plan. To the place we went last year - a wonderful meal. Here's hoping for a repeat!
