Mom is semi missing in action. Well, she may not be missing at all but I don't know. Generally, if I don't hear from her via email by about 8ish my time, I hop onto her computer and see that she's finished a note to me and forgot to hit 'send' or she's read my email and just hasn't answered, or she's in the middle of answering.... In any event, I can generally get a pretty good read that she's not dead yet.

This morning, there was no note so I clicked on VNC and ooops... no connection. Fuck, her computer or connection or something must be broken.

So I hop over to Follow Me IP. This is a wonderful, simple little set up. I have a tiny little program on her computer which sends her IP address to the Follow Me IP server every 5 mins. I can log on there and get a reading of when the last time the little program sent an IP. So I did. According to it, she has a valid IP address and has been continually logged on and sending out her IP address every 5 mins.

Then I ping what it tells me and nope... no joy. Timed out. So... if her machine is sending out and but won't answer when called... hmmm (Or maybe it's me or Microsoft... if you are so inclined, would you please try pinging 68.212.78.193 [she rebooted and now it's 68.212.78.250 - nums diff but sitch the same] and let me know if you get anything other than timed out?)

I just called and left a message. She has lost the outbound message on her answering machine. Generally this means it's not working correctly either.

I'm not worried, particularly, just disconnected.
