In most everything, I set my expectations so that the chances of my being delighted far outweigh the chances of my being disappointed. If someone promises me something for Tuesday or Wednesday, I assume it will be Wednesday. If it comes on Tuesday, I win. If it comes on Wednesday, I don't lose.

But, this whole dentist thing is taxing my ability to do that.

I so want the dentist to say:

1. Oh, really, your mouth isn't that bad!
2. We can fix it all up - clean and fix those rough edges and do everything else that needs to be done to make you happy in one session.
3. You just make sure you are delivered by cab, we'll make sure you are totally sedated and when you are done, we'll pour you back onto a cab to go home. What day is good for you?
5. Your insurance covers most of it and you won't exceed your annual limit.
4. Then you'll be good for 6 more months.

And I know it's probably going to be something more along the lines of:

1. Ewww
2. This will take lots of sessions to fix.
3. You will have to have someone come with you for each session.

Actually probably the worst case would be a mix of the two scenarios - one that would not make me happy but isn't totally unreasonable either.

I'm a bit stressed about the prospects. 3:30. Today.
