Another Random Bits Entry
May. 19th, 2005 09:31 amIt gets more difficult each day to stay above the political fray. I abhor all things military. And yet, the idea that women should be - after all these years and all this hard work - treated unequally again, makes me more angry than I thought possible. In a recent entry, I made a crack, half in jest, about the Republicans fucking up my TV offerings. But, this time I am not joking. I'm not sure how much longer I can handle living in a country run by these assholes.
I am forcing myself to think of other things. I did ok at the grocery store yesterday.
jimcarson pointed out a particularly deep and treacherous pit that I am also very prone to... Going to the grocery store, when I'm hungry with out a list. There is nothing that will break my back, load my car and fill up my credit card faster.
But I had 1.5 saving graces yesterday. For one thing, the grocery store is very international - it's basically Japanese but they cater to nearly anyone who can spell Asia with a little Mexico thrown in. It's a big store so they do have things like Kraft American Cheese slices and Ragu sauce in a jar but it's not like going Krogering. But the main thing that kept me out of the pit was the fact that it is a good 5 blocks from home and I only have one arm that I can count on for heavy carrying since my tennis elbow in the other one is still not all the way gone.
I'd like to take a moment here and be grateful that the Yankees have left town. I would not like to see them come back. Ever. Yes, we won last night but it was not easy. At all. And when we made the final out they had the bases loaded. It's too much work.
I am making a big Costco run this weekend. Not big in the sense of buying (although that probably will happen, too) but big in the meaning of going to the Costco Home store which is according to the Costco website a mere 10 miles from my house. It's in Kirkland which may well be 10 miles as the crow flies but I'm going to be driving so probably 30-45 mins.
Sheri says that she saw a great looking mirror and when she asked where it came from she was told Costco. Also I need to see if I can find something for the other side of the bed. Figured I'd look while I checked out the mirror thing. Sheri doesn't have a Costco membership so I'm on point to check out the Costco possibilities.
I also need steak so I'll be stopping at the regular Costco (non-home?) store, too. It will be a Costco Day...
I got a prescription for 2 valium in the mail yesterday. With instructions - one the night before DDay and one the morning of. I find that I am actually looking forward to it. Well, that, of course, is a stretch. But, I am looking forward to getting fixed a bit more than I am dreading the fixing and that's actually probably headline news.
I have one not very big wisdom tooth. It's been there for years. Never caused any trouble. It's a little bit of an issue because the way it's positioned, big food bits get trapped next to it and are hard to get out, but otherwise, it's never been an issue. When the dentist looked at my mouth on Monday he said to the assistant 'and one wisdom tooth up here on the top that is loose - really loose'. And then he said to me 'that doesn't bother you? that tooth? I'm surprised.'
And, of course, since that very minute, it's been driving me crazy!
Yesterday I ordered this coat tree for the front hall. I love it.
