susandennisI had lunch with an old friend today. She and I worked together at a doomed dot com and last saw each other exactly 4 years ago. She was always such a delight but today we talked non-stop. It wasn't until after we had roasted and toasted everyone we knew at the old company did we get around to the specifics of the 200 pounds she's lost!
She had gastric bypass done 3 years ago. Truly I would not have recognized her and would have been totally thrown had she come up to me on the street and told me who she was. She looks great with half of her gone. Probably more than half. Wow.
PLUS, she is now getting all of her teeth fixed. Caps on the top/some implants and lordknowswhatall else - $12,000 worth. "I'm doing my own version of extreme makeover!" I know she's over 50 but looks more like she's 40.
She says that she had to fix her weight to live and has so enjoyed all of the benefits of being someone in a body that is not obese. It was such fun to watch her face as she described all the benefits. It was just so joyful.
It was a very very very fun lunch.
