Happy Sunday morning
Jun. 19th, 2005 09:07 amThe paper is read. Mom has been called. My hair is washed. The first load of laundry is in. Coffee is being drunk. LJ is caught up on. And I am very grateful that most of my grammar teachers are way dead and can never read this paragraph.
Mom continues to progress. She said she was going to try the dining room again today at lunch but this time take a pillow to sit on. She also told me that she has exercises to do that will make the pain go away. I have no clue if she is right or not but I do think it's great that she believes it. It gives her something to do and the feeling that she is in control of how she feels.
The sun is out and heating up the terrace. The blinds are mostly closed so it won't heat up the living room. And it dawns on me that after an initial scare several weeks ago, we have had very nice clement weather so far this Summer. Thank you, weather people.
I forgot to go up to the park yesterday. All Saturdays, this Summer, they are having arts and crafts booths in a park that is generally a hangout for the homeless a couple of blocks from here. I love looking at the stuff and I love the effort and want to support it and it is only 2 blocks from here and I totally forgot. I just wrote myself an electronic note to remember next Saturday.
The other thing I did not do yesterday was go to the annual Solstice celebration in Freemont. Freemont is a neighborhood here in Seattle that is very special. It's a fun place to go on a regular day but the Solstice celebration is always an eyeful. I haven't been in years mainly because it is too hot on the day but yesterday was pretty perfect weather. But, I had chores. There is a great picture post of the activities in the Seattle Community. It's an entry heavy in photos but well worth the look. It's soooo Seattle.
Lately, I have had the strongest feelings of Seattle love. It's so pretty and big enough to have everything I want and need and small enough to wrap my mind around and full of people who mostly value what I do and it's rarely too hot. I love Seattle.
I put the sewing machine away last night - and the card table and the sewing stuff. But, I think I may drag it all out again today. I need a cover for my telescope and I need to fix those jeans that are too big. I might fix the files in the desk instead. I don't have to drag stuff out to do that and it needs to be done.
The Mariners beat the Mets last night. We suck so much this year that that alone would be headline news. But we also beat Pedro Martinez. The Mariners have faced him 13 times over the past years and lost every time. It was a sweet victory.
Time to get to work. I need to iron all the closet curtains and the linings.
