My LJ Routine
Jun. 30th, 2005 08:05 amWhen I first started this journal, my goal was to make an entry every day. Well, I've pretty much done that. And most days, overdone it.
There are two ways I come by entry fodder. 1. Something happens and, by this time in my LJ life, if anything happens, I pretty much default to recording it in LJ before I move on to anything else. 2. It's a new day and I need a new entry so I just start off with the minutia that is currently residing on the top of my brain.
Lately I've noticed that my day starts with 2. I need to make the daily entry and I'm fairly uninspired plus I would like to record what's top of mind du jour and/or make a list so I don't forget.
Then I get a 1. attack. Something happens or I read something or I get inspiration but something stupid and bang, I'm off. It's another day when my friends' friends page is now bogged down with susandennis entries. I'm not making a judgment here, just recording an observation. Kind of a 1/2 entry. (1.5?)
And, while I'm here, might as well handle the minutia.

I did hear back from Devon at the dentist's office. She promised me info by the end of the week. She's so strange. She takes forever to respond to email but when she finally gets around to it, her notes are wonderful. She says exactly the right thing in exactly the right way with no extra anything. Wild.

My friend, Susan - the office manager from my old job - came over yesterday afternoon to check on the condo progress. In the course of the chatter she mentioned about 5 things that were going on there that made me instantly think "THANKGOD, I'm no longer working there." It was nice.

Oh and she told me that my buddy, Kenny, got a promotion to a job he's wanted since forever. About 6 months ago, Kenny started sending me an IM every morning when he got in to work. He made it clear that it was just a Good Morning and once I responded, we need not chat further. It quickly reduced to GM, SD and GM, KL (for Kenny Lu) and really, that is it. once in a while one of us will toss in a 'happy Monday!' or 'happy Friday!' or exchange a tidbit of news. But, usually it's just the GMs. We've missed a couple of mornings but most mornings that's what goes. I have really come to treasure the little interchange. But, now he's in trouble. He didn't tell me about his new job. Bad Kenny.

After work today I'm going on the Bistro Table Hunt. For my terrace. I need a very small, bar height table and two chairs. They need to be black, preferably metal and some kind of mesh (or generally holey). I saw the perfect set at Lowe's in January. I did not buy it then. And now I can't find anything close for under $1,000. I'm going back to Lowe's today. If they have it, then I have to worry about how to get it from there to my house. But, first, I need to see if they have it. Today. After work. Oh and I need to see if they have some kind of something that will look nice in this big red planter I have that I would like to keep but it looks silly with nothing in it.

Mom gets better everyday. She says her butt hurts less and less every day, too. She has two major (well, major if you are in a place full of old people and are 82) dramas going on. Her cousin (82) sent her a check - part of an inheritance - that she never got. Now they are both in a frazzle about it. $399. And the person in charge of assigning her her new apartment as soon as the building is finished has fucked up and pissed her off so she is meeting with the head of the place today. She has his attention and is planning out what she will tell him so that 'I don't sound like a nutty old lady'.
Probably a good thing that Wimbledon is rained out - she wouldn't have time for that today anyway.

End of minutia so far at least for this morning....
