The webcam software did not fail yesterday. One of the webcams lost the connection. It took me about 15 minutes to discover how and why and I can give it to you in one word... Jake. That webcam is plugged into the hub on the monitor. The monitor's power button is a tastefully small outie button in the bottom right hand corner. Right where Jake likes to rub his face to ensure that Betty, should she drop by, will know that this is HIS monitor. Not hers.

When I got home, I saw there was no power on the monitor. Fuck. A dead monitor?! That's way less than handy. I hit the little button and the monitor sprang to life. I unplugged and replugged the webcam and it came to life. I was just about to get into full noodling mode when Jake ambled by towards his favorite new spot - on the desk in front of the monitor. Our latest contest is his seeing how long he can stand there before I explain again that when he was born, despite my efforts to get a transparent cat, I got a gray one and I CAN'T FUCKING SEE THROUGH YOU! Then he lies down there - after rubbing his face... AH ha!

Sadly, I have no ready plan for a fix here.

If you do not read Defective Yeti and have ever been amused by or annoyed by or ever even heard a cellphone, do yourself a favor and read his entry today. In fact, you should do yourself a favor and read him every day. I do not know him but he rarely fails to crack me up.

I feel like a turncoat. I've been testing out this new browser based RSS feed reading software now for a couple of weeks or more and, today I went back to Bloglines. It's just so much easier for me to bang through my favorite reads. I may pop between the two for a while and see if I can regain the reason why I wanted something else instead of Bloglines to begin with.

It was cooler yesterday. I was so grateful. It is not yet back to really hot yet although it is heading that way. I'm thinking Wednesday evening. By Thursday evening it should be oven city again. I know this because Kieran and Alan are coming over and our plan is to do the First Thursday Art Walk in my neighborhood. Nothing like waiting until the hottest Thursday of the year to do it. Timing.

My financial guy says I should dump my Amazon stock. All 15 shares. Of course he always says I should dump my Krispy Kreme stock and I never have. This is my little stash of Ameritrade 10-shares-of-this-and-15-shares-of-that account. I'm undecided about the Amazon. If I do sell, I haven't got any good ideas of a replacement. Here's the list:

Federated Stores
Krispy Kreme
TiVo
Amazon
EBay
Hormel
Sirius
Staples
Target
Costco
Martha Stewart

I'm giving a passing thought to Kerr-McGee but I need it to go down just a smidge and Amazon to go up just a smidge so I can afford 10 shares. 9 shares just seems like not worth the effort. I'm about $10 shy of 10 shares today. Plus, I'm not sold that Kerr-McGee is the right one to add to the mix. I'm such an investment wizard.
