My Mom loves to print stuff out. She'll print out a story from the NYTimes rather than read it on the screen. And pictures. She loves to print pictures out. She'll look at them for a couple of days and then toss them out but she loves to print them. But, she and her printer don't always see eye to eye on things. If there is a failure (like out of paper...) She just punches buttons on the printer and on the computer trying to trick it into printing again. She knows to reboot but she forgets (and, of course, rebooting rarely fixes the out of paper problem).

This morning she said she talked to my brother and told him that her printer was broken again. "I asked him how he fixed it last time and he said he took a hammer to it." This is the same brother who is leaving today to move to Texas to open a business doing computer support. I hope he comes up with some better answers during his drive...

I told her to call me this weekend when she was ready to mess with it and we'd fix it together - no hammer needed.

One of the decorating items still undone is painting the living room table. Sheri hates the table and wants to get rid of it but can't find a suitable replacement so she has just pretty much ignored it. Finally last Friday I asked her to please come up with a plan to get it painted. She said she would get right on it. This morning's note said she is still waiting for the bids she requested to come in. But, she thinks it can be done by August 31. I dunno - if it takes a week to get a bid, it probably takes two weeks to get it scheduled and three weeks to get it painted... We've just run out of August.

She says that it has to be taken somewhere and spray painted. My friend, Alan, says that it definitely needs to be painted black (or very dark) and that it need to be brush painted but pretty much disassembled first. Assuming Sheri's plan cannot be accomplished, I suspect that I might just take some good pix and go to a paint store and buy paint and whatever else I need to do it myself. If it doesn't work, then it doesn't work. But, ignoring it isn't working that well either.

I need to build a box that can be painted. There's a metal electrical-ish box on the wall high above the window seat. It's ugly. Last night I finally got the goods from Sheri on removing it. She said that it would take $500-$700 to remove it and repair the wall but the guy who's bidding says that there's a chance his electrician can't cap off the wires or something. I don't know but $700 for something that is taking more than a month to even get to that might not even work... I told her forget it. I'll build a box to cover it.

I'm thinking book board because 1. I can cut it and paste it into the perfect size and 2. It will be light weight enough to hang very easily and 3. I'm pretty sure I can paint it using the left over wall paint.

And there is a kind of an oversized telephone jack plate thing that I need to unscrew and see what's behind it. I'm guess there is a hole in the wall that I need to figure out how to cover and then paint over that.

All doable.

Still waiting for the Roomba to be shipped. That's the one that the nice lady told me last Sunday that she'd 'get that sent our right away'. So I call every day. And every day they tell me tomorrow. I'm guessing that the prepaid shipping label to return the eVac will arrive on Saturday so I can slap that puppy on and drop it off at the post office. Note to self, take the two big library books sitting on the counter and drop them off at that little branch next to the library. Thanks.

It's supposed to heat up again this weekend but I've decided that after this weekend, it's a nice slide from here in to cool cool fall. Note to weather people, I'm putting the A/C away Labor Day weekend so nothing over 75 degrees after that. K?
