Just as I sat down to write this entry, the power went out. Poof! It happens so rarely that it took me a minute to figure out what had happened. Just as I did, the power came back on. Of course, the stove and microwave clock were blinking like crazy. The coffee pot clock was stuck at noon. The computer was off. The TiVos will have to be rehacked (there are two little hacks that I lose when they reboot). Weird.
For years and years and years I lived in places where lightening screwed with the power all the time. Losing power on a daily basis during the Summer months was not at all uncommon. I had jury-rigged battery backups for lots of stuff and a routine for getting the rest turned on.
I'll bet, since living here - for 13 years - I've had the power go out maybe 4 times. I think today was just to remind me to be grateful that it doesn't happen more often.

I've been to Home Depot already. I needed a flat plug to replace the sticky-outie one on the lamp in the fish room. And they had a store special on Dirt Devil cordless brooms. My Shark recently died - the handle broke and the brush was getting so that it wouldn't pick up much. It had a good life, but it was time to move on. My Dirt Devil is charging. Oh and the flat plug turned out to be not flat enough. Sigh.

It is irrationally warm. Ok. Hot. I hope those weather people got my memo about no more hot after this weekend.
