I was just on hold to Bank of America (yep, again - wonder how much of my life has been spent this year on hold to Bank of America?? hmmmm) anyway, they were playing a French Christmas carol that I hadn't heard in years.

In high school, I sucked at French (along with most everything else) but also like everything else there it was an excellerated course of study. We were taught it all. (Even though I sucked at it, when I got to college, I was immediately placed in advanced classes and I wasn't totally lost.) Come Christmas time, we ate French Christmas cookies and sang French Christmas carols. I don't remember merde of my French and would not have thought I had any of those carols in my memory either.

But, the music was an instrumental version and I discovered that I remembered all the words....

And, I have finally been added to my Mom's Bank of America credit card so now when they screw up, I can just pick up the phone, get on hold and, eventually, find out what the problem is.

Ah French. I studied French from 11-16 which was 1973 to 1978, and then got a U (unclassified, off the bottom of the chart) in my final exam. But I still know some French, despite my best efforts not to learn it. I hated the teacher I had for my last two years with a real passion, the one before that was good and got me up to 52% which was well into the pass band. Despite that, 25 years later I can still trot out appropriate French phrases from time to time. Who'd have thought.

Is this it?

Un flambleau, Jeanette Isabella....?

La, la la

Le Christ est Ne, Maria Apelle,
La la la

Don't check my grammar/spelling, but I'm singing and humming along!

I was betting on "Jesu Christ s'habille en pauvre"

Do you remember any of the real words to the one you heard?

Le noël français...

...c'était lequel? Celui que je préfère, c'est «Il est né, le divin enfant». Je l'aime beaucoup!
