Happy Saturday
Sep. 24th, 2005 09:23 amLast night's party was good fun. Kieran and Alan are masters at grouping people. I had met two of the dozen other guests there before and the rest were new to me and fun and interesting. Plus, next month is Alan's birthday and we were all having so much fun they just rescheduled on the spot for next month - same group/different birthday. And I did not have too much to drink. It was all good.
This weekend is seasonal closet switch weekend. All of the Summer clothes need to go to the not so handy spots and the Winter clothes need to come up front and ready.
Growing up we used to take out good winter clothes to the dry cleaners every Spring and leave them there until Fall. They would clean and store them and your closet got a breather. Mother and Daddy did that every year until 1989. In 1989, they took their winter clothes to the dry cleaner as usual and left them. In September - exactly 17 years ago today - hurricane Hugo blew their dry cleaners off the face of the earth. Daddy always said that he bet his good camel hair coat landed probably in Bermuda and he hoped someone was getting good use of it. They never heard from that dry cleaner again. Considering all the damage Hugo did to everyone else's lives and properties, Mother and Daddy figured they got off easy.
And someone here needs to make a grocery store run. I guess I'll do it. And there's a whole lotta TV that needs watching. Head Cases (odd fit lawyers - I thought it could possibly work but no guarantee - didn't make it - canceled after 2 episodes).
Guess I'll get started.
