I did manage to get my seats assigned even though the guy on the phone and the website said not possible. I sent myself a new copy of my itinerary and the seat selections are in there. Of course, next week, they will probably change airlines on me.

While I am not happy with Expedia, I have taken a deep breath and gotten a bit of clarity. I remember a few years ago - before 9/11 - planning for the same Thanksgiving trip, the lowest fare I could find from Seattle to Charleston was $700. I went to Priceline.Com which was way new then and signed to pay $250 for the trip. Priceline got me the price. I was way happy. The trip went off without a hitch. (I never again, however, got Priceline to give me a decent deal - I tried for several years after that first victory.)

This same trip with the rising cost of fuel, the airlines in bankruptcy, Homeland Security at the helm, the fare is $337.80.

I'm not as torqued as I was and I am very very very grateful that I do not have wanderlust or travel as a requirement of my job.
