My chaise is just wide enough for moi plus the litter. This is us watching TV last night. Well, obviously, I was the only one actually doing the watching.

I have been beset by email woes of various kinds and issues - it's kind of like my email karma has turned to shit. Yesterday, I got some LJ comments but not all. And I could never receive my trip itinerary. Finally, I got a notice in one account (the one trying to send) that the mail server was hosed. I called my ISP whose server it is and they said it was backlogged. I never did get some of those emails.

Then it looked like I couldn't get some email out - using two different SMTP servers. The email would leave but never arrive. This morning, I had trouble getting a note to Mom. It is not so easy to track down whether it's my domain registrar, my ISP, my SMTP, my spam filter service, her domain registrar, her ISP, her POP3. It looks like it's all fixed now but geesh.

And, then, while researching, I discovered that my spam filter service is run by a guy who sounds like someone I don't want to be spending money with. I've had this service for about two years now. It's a verification service. I have a whitelist. Any email on that list gets through. If you aren't on the list and you send me an email, you get a note with a link and a request to click on that link and then your note goes through. I can log in and check the junk mail folder easily. I love the service. I've had probably 3 issues - slow or broken service - in 2 years. And all three times their response has been quick and effective. This is what it does for me - stats since 11/1/03. For $25 a year. I hate to think about giving it up.

And in news of the ohmygod variety... Becky came in this morning and announced that today was her last day. I said 'but last week you said you were working through the end of the month'. Well, turns out her friend is coming to visit and they are going camping and so today is her Friday, her end of the month and her last day! Ok... Then, about an hour later, she got a call on her cellphone from a guy in her apartment building asking if she was ok. Then he proceeded to tell her that her apartment building was on fire and that he had jumped from the fire escape to get out. Her last day was cut short... She said she'd let us know what was happening.
