susandennisSometimes customer service is just perfect. I spend a lot of LJ real estate railing about when it is not so I figure I'd devote a little to when it is.
Yesterday I was bringing my Money software up to date and noticed a charge on my Discover card for $10 that I couldn't put a face to. CLKBANK*COM DOWNLOAD 800-390-6035 ID $ 10.00 P869QWD8. So I picked up the phone and called the 800 number.
I got a recording that explained that I had indeed called the right place but that they weren't open on Sundays. They would be open again on Monday at 8 a.m. my time.
I figured the smart money would be to wait until Tuesday assuming they are swamped on Mondays but I was afraid if I waited until Tuesday, I'd forget so I waited until 9.
Two rings and a recorded message saying that if I had a question about a credit card charge to stay on the line. Two more rings and I had Jason who was as bright and chipper as could be. He asked for my last name and my zip code and then gave me my first name and told me that the charge was from the Support Alert newsletter. Badda Bing! Perfect. Thank you very much.
Yeah, they could have put that detail in my Discover bill, but they didn't and instead provided me with a very easy way to find it out if I was stupid enough not to remember.
Last week I bought a subscription for my brother.
And, while I'm singing praises here, why not a little ad for this Support Alert newletter. His website is excellent and that may be all you need but, I like supporting this kind of thing and $10 a year seems like a small price to pay to see the secret shit. I have gotten the newsletter for a while now and find at least one new nugget in every issue.
But, what prompted my latest purchase was when I reformatted my boot drive and went to track down the latest versions of my favorite tools. I found the links to nearly all of them on his website and/or in back issues. I figured that my brother, in his new PC support business, might well benefit from knowing this secret shit.
Good things all around.
