An eye for an eye

susandennisMy teddy bears need eyes and noses. I have a perfect solution - from a company call Blumenthal Lansing. There are two wiggly eyes and a nose on one card. There is only one place in all of Seattle that carries these cards. They usually have 3 in stock. I use that many in a week. I can get them to order more but it's not easy and they aren't nice about it.
There are two places I have found on the web that advertise they will full quantity orders. One has, apparently, not been back to the web since January of this year, does not answer email and lists no phone number. (Blumenthal Lansing is a wholesaler - no interested in selling to me.)
The other is an outfit in Virginia. They have a website with three email addresses. They do not respond to any email sent to these addresses. The first time I called the phone number - sometime last June - a woman turned me over to a guy who took my order pretty efficiently. In a week my credit card was charged and I had the things in a week and a half.
I need more. So I tried the email - Nada. And I finally called. This time she did not turn me over to the man. And I'm pretty sure my button order is totally FUBAR.
Talking to this woman brings out the very worst in all my prejudices. I was raised around women like her. They have blue hair and soft cultured voices with melodious accents and they long ago gave up any idea of ever having a cogent thought. They take pride in knowing nothing but how to turn out a delicious two bite ham biscuit. They are not a credit to my gender and I have now placed my last order with these people.
I placed the order a week ago and it has not turned up on my credit card. I called today and slowly - oh so slowly - Mrs. I Know And Love All The Baptist Hymns Ever Sung - took down information and said 'ok'. I said 'ok? Can you tell me about my order?' 'Oh no. I'll have to talk to the office.'
Fortunately, I've still got some of the original order so I'm not in eye/nose crisis - yet. But, I guess from now on I'll have to go back to the mean store place and bulk order from them and just let them be nasty about it. Fuckwidget.
