this and that
Nov. 8th, 2005 08:26 amI got no work. Bummer. I have a project half done that's been put on hold for a bit - probably until next week - and another project that's waiting for my credential application (with the client) is processed. But for today, I got no work.
So, I think I'll do laundry. And update the puzzle page. And maybe make a library/quick grocery run. And tidy up here and there around here. Oh and assemble my new laptop table when it comes.
I love seeing UPS's 'out for delivery' or, in this case, FedEx's 'on FedEx vehicle for delivery.' I remember when UPS first started offering tracking to the unwashed masses. It was about 1995 and you could sign up via email. Watching the tracking was about as much of a thrill as actually getting the tracking. And, come to think of it, sometimes, I still feel that way!
In the olden days, you called an 800 number and told them what you wanted and gave them your credit card number and then waited. Usually they would tell you when you could expect your package with 'If you don't a delivery in the next 3 weeks, call us back.' And that was a technological advance over the really olden days when you filled out the order form in the middle of the catalog and mailed it in and hoped for the best.
Remember when you wanted to call long distance you had to chose between station-to-station and person-to-person?
Ok, I'm done with the olden days. They are not remembered fondly.
Mom was a true crabby appleton this morning. When there is no email from her when I get up, I call. She knows this and when she wants to talk, just just does not send email in the morning. No email so I called. And it was not a fun call. She found fault with everything I said except for the half she didn't listen to. Then I could not get off the phone. Oh, the excitement about the upcoming trip is just growing and growing. Ugh.
Ok, time to not make the donuts!
