I did find myself four books for the trip:

The Pardon by James Grippando
Program by Stephen White
Last Chance Saloon by Marian Keyes
Denial by Keith Ablow

I may leave one of them - depends on how much other stuff I have to take.  If I have to take the big laptop, I'll take the backpack on wheels.  If I can get by with the Lifebook, I'll probably just take the light weight computer bag.  I won't have any other luggage since I keep a suitcase full of clothes/shoes/sundries at Mom's.  I need to decide on a simple knitting project to take - probably a hat.  And then make sure I have:

- the backup battery for the camera
- the power cord for whichever computer is going
- the cord that connects the phone to the computer allowing for both recharging and use as a modem
- ear buds for whichever computer is going/plus adapter for Treo

Over the years - particularly the past few - thanks to organization and technology, my pile o' necessities is ever so much smaller.  I have a small purse (about the size of a trade paperback book.  It holds my wallet, my camera, a 1 GB SD/usb drive, Treo, hairbrush, pen, chapstick, keys...  Then I have a smaller zippered bag that holds a variety of emergency sundries like spare contact, bobby pins, etc.   Mostly I just take the purse.  But if I'm taking the computer bag, for instance, I'll toss in the purse and the zipper bag.

For this trip, I'll just add the books and the other 4 things on the list.  I've got a week to remember whatever else I need.
