Wrong way

I got a very short email today from my brother's youngest. He's 25 and I think he lives in Massachusetts and he's married. I have no idea if he is employed or not. The last time I heard from him was about a year ago when I got a short email out of the blue telling me that his girlfriend was pregnant and they were going to get married and how was I? I answered. I never heard from him again until today. (I did hear by the grapevine that after they were married she had a miscarriage.)

Today's note - no capital letters and badly punctuated - says that his wife is now a real estate agent and needs a website. He says he bought Dreamweaver but can't figure it out so "could you help in the creation of the best real estate website ever." I could. But I'm not going to.

I sent him back a note and explained that while I had not used Dreamweaver in many years (true), I was sure that he could figure it out and build a fine website.  I noted that it would take lots of money to create the best real estate website ever and that maybe they should be content with a fine one.   I said that when they had it done, if they wanted to send me the URL, I'd be happy to take a look and offer suggestions.

I did not add about 53 different snotty things I wanted to - about how you build relationships, how you ask for favors, heck - there are even a few pointers I could throw in on how to write emails but, I frankly don't care enough.
