One day down...
Nov. 19th, 2005 06:55 pmI did find a good size box to hide wires in. Next I need to get something to cover the box for camouflage and then do it two more times. I'm proud of the solution. Tonight after dinner, I mended a blouse she wanted fixed and then tackled a bunch of boxes. They were full of stuff that I told Polly to throw out but Polly thought I should look at them first. I looked at them and then stacked them all up in the kitchen and Mom is going to call Polly tomorrow and tell her to throw them out.
I told Mom that she had better be explict with Polly. No, she does not want to keep old tax returns. If she needs them tough shit. No she does not want to keep her wedding pictures. No she does not want to keep a box of old letters from members of my father's family to other member's of my father's family. They were cranky and mean anyway. Tell Polly it all needs to go. All of it. To the trash. Please. And, yeah it would be nice to incinerate them or shred the papers but honestly, just get rid of them.
We made a list for Target and we're off tomorrow. Mom has never actually been to a Target store. I suspect she'll last about half a trip and I'll have to go back and do the rest myself. But, that's why we're going tomorrow. I can go back early in the week if I need to.
One of the women she eats with every night gets around on a Jazzy scooter. Mom, tonight, said that she is very frustrated by not having any stamina. I asked her why she wasted all that energy walking around when she could get a scooter like Betty's and buzz everywhere. I'm not sure I totally buy her reasoning but it basically melted down to she thinks if you don't use it, you lose it and she doesn't want to use it. We talked about choices and trading the choice for stamina now in for the choice of having what little she can hang on to longer. Different strokes.
She's not making me nuts yet. It would be nice to skate on by that for just one trip.
I'm now ready for bed. That red eye last night wasn't too restful.
Oh and someone at Mom's joint has an open wireless network. Bless their little heart.
