Maaahvalous!
Dec. 6th, 2005 04:59 pmWhat a treat the Belleuvue Museum is. The last time I was there was several years ago for a Duane Hansen exhibit. I love Duane Hansen's stuff so much and I was so focused on it that other exhibits and the building itself never even made it onto my radar. Since then the museum totally folded - shut down, out of cash, for a year. It re-opened with a new fresh look at the world of artistic crafts and wow.
This time I was very focused on everything because there was hardly a nook or cranny of the building or exhibits that didn't have a treat for the eyes. The building itself - at least inside is wonderful backdrop with a marvelous staircase of steps with width and depth and rise that make you really feel the motion.
And the exhibits. There were four there today. I was actually most interested in the David Chatt work which turned out to be amazing and beautiful and worth it but he was on the top floor and the journey to his stuff was paved with other stuff that was just as amazing and wonderful.
I honestly know very little about artwork curration (is that even a word?) but whoever arranged the bits and pieces at this museum did a wonderful job. You had excellent views wherever you looked. So many of the pieces need both close up and far away looks and their arrangements gave you ample room for both. It was such a treat.
Kieran and Alan and I all loved it. All of it. I am going to have to keep an eye out for future exhibits there. Tres cool. Very tres.
