Sink is unclogged.  Hair is cut. Thanks for Inviting Me gift is bought and bowed. 

Sean come up this afternoon with a bucket.  I was expecting a plunger or a snake and a toolbelt.  I know to get a butt crack you need a real plumber but still.  A bucket?  He gets under the sink and proceeds to unscrew the pipes with his hands??!!  Who knew all those tools were just fashion accessories??  Ugly nasty plug of crap stuck right there at the end.  We scraped it all out, rescrewed, turned the water on and Bob's your uncle.  All is good. 

Plus now that I know what to do, I don't have to wait another 13 years to do it.  Next time it won't drain right the first time or two, I'm on it.

The very same guy who did my hair last time, did it this time.  He's so cute.  And he did a great job.

I had a couple of conference calls and work stuff and then I decided to see if I could do a library/gift run.  The book I wanted was requested for hold at the Beacon Hill branch which is bigger and has parking.  But the website said there was a copy on the shelf at the International branch and the one hadn't gotten to Beacon Hill yet.  So I tooks my chances.  One of the 2 parking spaces was open.  The International branch is barely bigger than the bookmobile I loved when I was a kid but the book was there!  I asked the librarian if he could cancel the hold I had on it and he said it's done automagically but he checked anyway and sure enough, as soon as the computer saw I checked it out of one place, it told the other place to Stop The Presses.  Very cool.

Then on to the Japanese grocery store.  I grabbed one of those lucky bamboo sprout things with roots that you grow in water and then grabbed a nice, simple saki pitcher for a vase and I was good to go. $6.50.  Came home.  Poured marbles into the pitcher to stabilize the bamboo below, formed a temporary traveling collar out of tissue paper and slapped on a bow.  Martha Stewart can just take a lesson.

Now I think I'll see if I can know off a one of the documents that Cool Chick and I are converting before I leave for the party.

Of course, Jake immediately thought 'yum! salad!!'
