The Consumer Rides Again...

Remember way back when when my cellphone antenna fell off and I went to the Sprint Store and I met this really nice young woman who said that if I was willing to change telephone numbers, she could cut me a deal on a Treo 650 for $100?  Remember that?  It was on December 4.

On December 7, I sent the nice lady an email.  It bounced.  I called the store and their voice mail was full.  I sent an SMS and lo and behold she responded with a correct email address!  4 minutes after getting her correct address, I sent her an email asking some questions and telling her I was interested and to please get in touch with me.

I never heard a word.  Just now - let's check the calendar, shall we? - on December 28... she called me back.  "I've been on vacation."  Well, you know what?  While you were gone, I decided that you were way too flakey to deal with.  Thanks anyway.

And remember the fancy Egg and Toast Toaster?  I got it about that same week.  The egg poacher cup is was teflon coated.  Only the first time I cleaned it, half the teflon came off.  The second time, I had black specs in my eggs.  I called the number that came with the package - "call us if you have trouble" and the nice woman said she had never heard of this!!  She's send me anew cup right away!!! 

I called again on December 21st.  Where's the cup I was promised?  The nice woman who answered that time found me in the computer and said that she didn't know what happened!  "Would you mind if I called you back after I find out what's going on with this?"  Heck no.  Only... I never heard from her either!!!

I called again today and NOW the story is that they have replaced the old cup with a newly redesigned one with teflon that stays on and they are going to send me one of those next week.  My 30 days window for returning broken merchandise is closing down fast.  But, I do like the thing so I guess I'll keep it and hope someday I can poach an egg again...
