More tid bits du jour

In the snail mail today there was an invitation from my brother for the opening of his new computer store. It's a nice invitation - personalized with my name - and a photo of the front of the store, my brother, his wife and some other guy who I think is their employee.  It tells me that the ribbon cutting is at 12:15 and that I can meet Ty Detmer who is, apparently, former NFL quaterback.  It has a nice, simple map showing me that it's just off I-35.

It just does not have the date.  Poor guy.  I'm so sorry.  I doubt if it's a huge thing. It's not like people are really going to come spend wads of money when the football player cuts the ribbon but still.  I know if he's discovered it, he's kicked himself to bits over the error.

When he had the real (just not grand) opening, it snuck up on me and at the last minute found a florist to send a basket of flowers and snacks from Mom.  And then found her - she had been at lunch and getting her hair done - and told her that she had sent flowers.  Whew.

Today she called me!  "Don't you think we should send flowers for the opening?"  So I called my now, favorite florist in Georgetown, Tx, The Flower Box of Georgetown.  The nice lady even remembered me and was delighted to hear that this time she had more than an hour to handle the job!

So... all done.  I so wish his business takes off and he has great success. 

Now, in addition to the work dinner tomorrow, I have a brown bag session to lead at Microsoft at 2 and another meeting there at 10:00.  It's going to be my day on campus with lots of time to spare.  I just called my friend, Georgia - we worked together at my first startup - and she's free for lunch!  Woohoo!

What didn't come in the mail today was my TV Guide.  Poop.  People came but I'm so over People.  I'm all about the TV Guide these days. I have standards and they are low.

I found out today that the sheet rock they tore off my wall lo those many weeks ago will not be replaced until at least February and maybe March.  Not so nice.  But, the head of the condo board and others down the hall are in far worse shape than I am so I'm not too hosed about it.  It could be way worse.  Still, it is annoying.
