My friend, Kenny Lu, tells me - in his good morning IM - that today is Chinese New Year's Eve.  So... Happy New Year's Eve!  Year of the Dog, google tells me.

It's raining again from the ceiling by my fireplace.  Actually, that should be 'rained'.  There's a little puddle on the hearth.  Right where the first one was.  I'm not entirely sure that Jake didn't pee there except it has no smell.  The building manager is coming up in a bit to check mu puddle out.

I had two one handed notes from Mom this morning.  One of them was to ask me to check on her Orvis order.  She ordered a blouse online.  Kind of impressive, I think.  And her order went through.  Usually places check billing address before accepting credit card payment.  Mom can't ever remember that her billing address is the bank.  But, apparently Orvis doesn't care.  They happily processed her new blouse.  She was quite proud.

Polly is sick and apparently really sick and Mom really misses her and is worried.  She lost her voice last week and apparently didn't take care of whatever it was that caused that and now she's down.  I hope she gets better soon!

Two of my LJ friends collided today on the same car crash!  It happened very near [livejournal.com profile] vasilatos's house. [livejournal.com profile] countess_shell and David were there for dinner and saw it happen and saw the perps!! (her entry is locked, sorry).  I'm not sure these two know each other even on LJ.   I read their entries before I had had enough coffee and had to go back and re read to make sure I was just in DeJaVuLand.

Today is FanFest at the Mariner stadium.  Baseball... ahhhhh.  It cost money and it will be full of small children so I'm not going but I do like the first peeps of baseball season.  Tomorrow is fan kick off at the football stadium.  Free admission, free parking - come send your team off to Detroit... The 'hood will be hoppin'!

Yesterday, when I came back from Costco, the little street between the football stadium and my garage door was packed.  There have been ticket scalpers hanging out there all week and people coming to get their SuperBowl tickets but this was even more crowded.  As I got closer to the stadium, I started seeing signs about getting out of Iraq and against Alito.  ?!?  Like the scalpers care?  I got busy and forgot to worry about it.  This morning I opened up the newspaper to see that the political folks were there to see Hilary Clinton who was doing a fund raiser for Maria Cantwell at the stadium.

My neighborhood is always exciting.

Today I need to do the work that I couldn't get to yesterday because of my computer issues.  I think I'll get on that now... After breakfast.
