The CFO (who's Kenny's bosses boss) gave Kenny for Christmas 20 $1 lottery tickets. I asked Kenny if he was a big lottery fan and he said he had never had a lottery ticket in his life. He's a bit confused by the gift and I'm scratchin my head myself. And, of course, neither of us have a clue how to read them, how to find out if he won, when to find out if he won - we are lottery bimbos. But, apparently, he has a friend who has a PhD in lottery.
So far, by my count, there are 6 of us here at work today. Quiet doesn't quiet cover it. I cannot imagine that my staying very long is going to benefit anyone.
I did get in a nice walk this morning - it was very chilly but I didn't run into any ice. I took the southern route this morning - not the waterfront. The Krispy Kreme building is coming along quite nicely.
My prayers go out to everyone on a help line today.

Lottery tickets?
Date: 2003-12-27 09:21 am (UTC)The odds of winning the big prize are about 1 in 14 million, though because you get two sets of numbers, your odds then become 1 in 7 million. (Okay, technically 1 in 6,991,908) Second prize, for matching 5 numbers, is $1,000, odds are 1 in 27,000. Third price, $30, is 1:516, and fourth prize (matching 3 numbers) is $3, with odds of 1:28.
For this reason, I don't bother playing until it hits about $20 million, which it doesn't do very often.
A good basics on the funny math is here: http://money.howstuffworks.com/lottery1.htm
You can find out the results by going to the state's lottery site: http://www.walottery.net/winnum_pastresults.asp
