I see my Mom's name in the caller ID
Feb. 2nd, 2006 03:28 pm"Wow! Did you ever light a fire under everyone around here!!! And I mean everyone!"
She was giddy at being in the spotlight where, apparently, she has been since I got off the phone with Sarah this morning.
I suggested to Sarah this morning that maybe once in a while - not often, but just once in a while - one of the staff members - the social worker, or the person in charge of medical or someone could just pick up the phone and give Mom a 'just checking to make sure you are fine' call.
Mom reported "Sarah said you had a nice call." "You talked to Sarah?" "Right here in this room. She came and sat down right here and we chatted and she asked such good questions."
This is huge. Mom thinks Sarah is royalty. But it didn't stop there.
Barry, the temporary head of Assisted Living made a visit and sat down and chatted. And then Anne - the social worker who is one of the most annoying people on the face of the earth - came and visited.
She said they brought her the wrong medicine last night and she said something to the pill lady who mumbled something and left and never came back. Tonight they brought her the wrong medicine and she said something to the pill lady who promised to get it fixed immediately and to report to Barry that there was a problem.
I would have thought that all the action would have worn Mom out but she was just wallowing in the attention. I'm so grateful to be able to help her out.
For those of you living in Seattle, contrary to current fads, this graphic does not mean that I have or want two football tickets. For everyone else... yes, it means victory.
