The bits and stuff

In an email this afternoon, Mom writes "This is the best afternoon of my life. (lately.)" She had a computer question and so I hopped onto her computer and discovered she had been surfing for new Bierkenstocks (sp?). And she says she brushed her teeth without anyone watching her and called an old friend without anyone listening in and she is just in heaven.

I very nearly called my challenging client a Cluless FuckChop on the phone just now. I did not say the words but my tone clearly implied it. Fortunately, he's way too clueless to pick up on it.

I just got an email from one of the 'regulars' at Kieran and Alan's dinner parties. I've had people from there ask me, in the past, for contact info so we could swap emails or calls or whatever and I've given them my card and never heard a peep. I didn't worry about it. Friday night, another one - Elizabeth - asked me for contact info suggesting we 'do lunch' one day. I gave her my card - yawn. Well, damn if it doesn't turn out she's serious. Lunch on Friday. That will be fun.

The new phone I ordered came sans the little charger. It had the big charger but not the little one. It had the transformer for the little one but not the charger. Odd. I called the place: www.techforless.com I've had such wonderful service from them in the past. This time I got a woman who clearly didn't care. She said someone would call me. Right. 20 minutes later, Jason called me. That was Friday afternoon - after 4 his time. UPS just delivered the little charger. I love www.techforless.com.

And I just checked and my brother has his Monkey cam all set up and working. http://www.hegiraweb.com/ Monkey is what her grandchildren call my Mom. The cam is in his store in Georgetown, Texas. His wife is the one who has championed the cause so she can write little notes to Mom each day. I don't know if he's told Mom about it yet. What we really need to do is set one up in Mom's room so we can see her but she's not too wild about the idea... I may still give it a go when I'm there in July...
