I am generally not in favor of work fun events. They are just usually so fraught with possible peril. But, I have the one client who has now treated us (me, my boss, and her team members) to an evening of fun two different times and she could turn me around on the whole issue. The first time was fun. The place she takes us to is a little French bistro in Redmond. They have wonderful service and just heavenly food. I mean heavenly.
But, even so, this time I was not up for it. Been there. Done that. The invite was for last Friday and, as luck would have it, I had already accepted an invitation to Kieran and Alan's. So thanks but no thanks. Whoops. Nope, they need me to be there... what about if they rescheduled for Tuesday. Ok. If they want me that badly.
Plus I needed a break from Challenging Guy so it worked out fine. Plus, I ran a couple of errands on the way and got those done.
And, once again, the food was amazing and the conversation lively and fun and the people interesting. It was just a great evening. What a nice thing for her to do.
