Black, White

letmesaythis asked a while back if anyone reading her journal was going to watch Black, White. I think I said I might. I did tell TiVo to grab it, please but the more I thought about it the more I thought I really didn't want to see it. I did not want to see people being stupid over something as critical as race relations. But, tonight, I had run through all my 'must see Tivo' and so I figured I'd watch the first 5 mins or so to prove that I was right.

60 minutes later, I learned I was wrong. It is really interesting and at least so far handled really well and not stupidly at all. And the people participating don't seem like idiots. The one point made, early on, is that the black people have a far shorter journey than the white ones as they already have to conform to a white world. They have to know how to talk to and get along with white people to get jobs to get lunch to get through their days. Interesting. I hope the other episodes are as interesting as the first one.
